Wayne Weible's Story

About Our Founder: Wayne Weible

Wayne Weible, founder of Weible Columns, was a former newspaper publisher and columnist whose life was forever changed in October of 1985.

At that time, he became interested in the reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to six young Croatians in the small farming village of Medjugorje, then part of Yugoslavia and now located in Bosnia-Herzegovina. What began as a journalistic investigation soon became something much deeper.

While researching an article for his four weekly newspapers, Wayne viewed a videotape of the apparitions. In that moment, he experienced what he described as a profound interior call from Our Lady. Though he was a Protestant at the time, he later shared:

“You are my son, and I am asking you to do my Son’s will. Write about these events… and the spreading of the messages will become your life’s mission.”

From that moment forward, Wayne’s life was dedicated to sharing the messages of Medjugorje.

A Mission That Reached the World

Wayne went on to author twelve books on Medjugorje, many of which became international best sellers.

His most well-known work, Medjugorje: The Message, has sold over 500,000 copies in the United States and an estimated 500,000 more worldwide. It remains one of the most widely read books on Medjugorje and is often referred to as the “book of conversions” or “the anointed book.”

Wayne himself humbly maintained that he was not the true author, but that the Holy Spirit inspired his writings to draw souls closer to Our Lady, and ultimately to her Son, Jesus Christ and His Church.

His earlier work, Miracle at Medjugorje, a collection of his original newspaper articles first published in September 1986, has reached over 130 million printed copies and continues to be distributed around the world.

A Life of Evangelization

Wayne dedicated his life to sharing the message of Medjugorje across the globe.

He traveled extensively, speaking in countries including Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines, Lebanon, China, Australia, Great Britain, and throughout Central and South America. In the United States, he spoke in thousands of churches and conferences across all fifty states.

He also appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including EWTN’s Mother Angelica Live and The Oprah Winfrey Show, bringing the message of Our Lady to a wide audience.

Wayne made more than 129 pilgrimages to Medjugorje, often leading groups of pilgrims each year. He became personally acquainted with all six visionaries and witnessed firsthand the spiritual fruits of the village.

In 1991, Wayne was received into the Roman Catholic Church. Even so, he consistently emphasized that the message of Medjugorje is for all people: “The message coming from the Virgin Mary in Medjugorje is for all faiths … not just for Catholics, and not even only for Christians.”

A Legacy of Conversion

Through his writings and witness, Wayne Weible helped lead countless souls back to faith.

Even today, Weible Columns continues to receive testimonies from individuals whose lives have been transformed after reading Medjugorje: The Message or making a pilgrimage to Medjugorje.

For many, the name Wayne Weible has become inseparable from the message of Medjugorje itself.

This enduring impact stands as one of his greatest legacies.

Continuing the Mission

Sadly, Wayne Weible passed away on April 21, 2018, following a brief illness.

He is deeply missed by his family and by the many people whose faith was renewed through his obedience to Our Lady’s call.

Today, his mission continues through Weible Columns, now led by his widow, Judith Weible. She faithfully carries on this work, including leading the annual Weible pilgrimage to Medjugorje each fall.
